Dr. Amy Klar graduated from Virginia Commonwealth University in Richmond, VA, and received her medical degree from VCU’s School of Medicine. She went on to complete her internship and residency at Jefferson Health in Abington, Pennsylvania, where she developed a passion for treating obesity and metabolic disease. She continued this training at University Southwestern in Dallas, TX, and is certified in metabolic and general surgery using minimally invasive techniques, including robotics. She is board certified in general surgery.

Dr. Klar is a Fellow of the American College of Surgeons, as well as a member of the Society for American Gastrointestinal and Endoscopic Surgeons (SAGES) and the American Society for Metabolic and Bariatric Surgery (ASMBS.) She currently serves as the director of the Minimally Invasive and Bariatric Surgery Program at Fresno Heart & Surgical Hospital. She is also an assistant clinical professor of surgery with the UCSF Fresno medical education program.

Dr. Klar enjoys spending time with her very adorable and spunky daughter. Together they tend to their kitchen garden, and enjoy trying new recipes and hiking on our local trails.
