Jorge Martinez-Cuellar, M.D., MBA

Jorge Martinez-Cuellar, M.D., obtained his Doctor of Medicine at Universidad Colegio Mayor Nuestra Senora del Rosario in Bogota, Colombia in 1997. In 2005, he and his family moved to the United States to complete his internal medicine residency at John H. Stroger Hospital of Cook County in Chicago, Illinois.

Dr. Martinez-Cuellar has been board certified in internal medicine since 2008. Striving to provide value-based care, excellence and motivated for knowledge, he completed his Physician Executive Master of Business Administration (MBA), at Haslam College of Business-University of Tennessee in 2021. 

Prior to joining Community Health Partners, Dr. Martinez-Cuellar worked at Saint Agnes Medical Center as the lead academic hospitalist for Saint Agnes Internal Medicine and Family Medicine Residency programs. He was focused on performing research in the field, teaching, lecturing, and leading hands-on training for residents.

During his time at Saint Agnes Medical Center, Dr. Martinez-Cuellar built a new hospital medicine service for Saint Agnes Medical Providers in 2019. He designed and implemented a high-value care, quality-based hospitalist program. His LEAN thinking targeted continuous improvement projects in safety, quality, customer experience, and cost in the delivery of care.

He was awarded the “Saint Agnes Champion in Care” Physician Award in 2020, and was nominated again in 2021.

As Chief Medical Officer for Central Valley Health Plan, Dr. Martinez-Cuellar participated in implementation and launching of this new Medicare Advantage Plan sponsored by Trinity Health.

Dr. Martinez-Cuellar joined Community Health System in March 2022, as Medical Director, to build a value-based Hospital Medicine Program for the Community Neurosciences Institute.
