William H. Likosky, M.D, FAAN, FAHA, is a neuro-hospitalist and stroke specialist at the Community Regional Medical Center in Fresno.

He attended the University of Vermont for both his undergraduate and medical school training, graduating cum laude. Dr. Likosky attended Yale University Hospitals for his Neurology Residency and Fellowship, and Medicine Internship and Residency. Dr. Likosky was an epidemiologist with the Centers for Disease Control (CDC) in Atlanta where he specialized in infectious diseases of the nervous system and mercury poisoning. Dr. Likosky has worked with the US Agency for International Development in promoting disease management programs internationally.

Dr. Likosky has been a Clinical Instructor in Neurology at the University of California, San Francisco, a Clinical Associate Professor of Neurology at Stanford University and the University of Washington. He has authored professional papers and participates in research.

While Dr. Likosky was the Medical Director of Stroke and Telestroke at the Swedish Neuroscience Institute in the Swedish Medical Center in Seattle, WA, he developed a stroke program which subsequently received JCAHO certification in Washington, and one of the first 40 nationally. At Swedish he developed one of the first telestroke programs in the US ultimately linking sixteen emergency departments to a comprehensive stroke center.

The program won during 2005 the coveted Earnest A. Codman Award provided by JCAHO for excellence in disease management, a Peterson award for quality of care, and during 2006 an Annual Achievement Award for Get with the Guidelines given by the American Heart/Stroke Association.

At Community Regional Medical Center, Dr. Likosky has been a medical director for stroke and participated in the inpatient neurology program.

In his free time, Dr. Likosky enjoys family activities with his wife Dr. Marilyn including cooking, traveling, piano, gardening and time with their Yorky and two Maltese as well as their children and grandchildren.  He also has with his wife authored historical non-fiction.
