Board certified in both general surgery and complex general surgical oncology, Dr. Chenwi Ambe joined Valley Surgical Specialists in 2017. He’s the only board-certified surgical oncologist in the Central Valley, and serves as chair of Community Health System’s cancer committee as well as chair of the surgery department at Clovis Community Medical Center.

After earning his medical degree from the University of Louisville, Dr. Ambe completed his residency in general surgery at the University of Maryland. During his residency, he spent two years at the National Institutes of Health in Bethesda, Maryland, where he completed a research fellowship in surgical oncology. After his residency, he completed a clinical fellowship in surgical oncology at the Moffett Cancer Center in Tampa, Florida.

Dr. Ambe’s clinical interest includes the breadth of general surgery. He also has a special interest in the surgical management of melanoma, esophageal, gastric, liver, pancreas and colorectal cancer. He’s trained in robotic surgery and uses the Da Vinci surgical system to provide his patients with the most advanced surgical treatments. 

When not practicing medicine, Dr. Ambe loves spending time with his four kids, biking, and exercising at the gym. He’s also known for his grilling skills by his friends and family.
