My name is Dr. Alan Long and I am currently a Neurocritical Care Physician with CRMC. I am board certified with the American Board of Psychiatry and Neurology in both Neurology and Neurocritical Care. I graduated with the highest of honors, with a Bachelor’s degree in Psychology at UC Berkeley. Next, I received my medical degree from Jefferson Medical College in Philadelphia. After, I went on to complete five years of training in Neurosurgery at the University of Birmingham, followed by a Residency in Neurology at Loma Linda University. In addition, I completed a Fellowship in Neurocritical Care at Northwestern University. While a fellow, I completed Northwestern’s Clinical Scholars program in medical education. Currently, I maintain a membership with the American Academy of Neurology and Neurocritical Care Society.
Before joining Community Health Partners, I held a principal position as an Assistant Clinical Professor at UCSF Fresno and was enrolled in the Teach for UCSF program to broaden and deepen my skills as an educator. During this time with UCSF Fresno, I was an invited lecturer for the Medical Education Program and published a peer review publication.
I dedicate my time as a teacher and mentor on a day to day basis with our current Advanced Practice Practitioners. My focus is on topics of interests for those caring for critically ill patients, and I seek to support their development both professionally and personally. I strive in my daily practice to treat all people and their families with sensitivity and respect. It is a great privilege for me to care for the people of the Central Valley. In my free time, I enjoy spending time with my family.
