Dr. Hawkins is board-certified in diabetology, endocrinology, and metabolism. He is a fellow of the American College of Endocrinology. After completing his training at Duke University Medical Center in 1988, he returned to Fresno, where he taught at Valley Medical Center and conducted clinical research. He founded Sierra Endocrine Associates in 1993.

Dr. Hawkins has long held a special interest in osteoporosis and bone metabolism. He has extensive knowledge in the diagnosis and treatment of metabolic bone disorders. He is also the leading authority in osteoporosis in the Central Valley.

Most who enter the Sierra Endocrine Associates office notice the many photographs decorating the interior space. Most, if not all, the photos hanging in the building were taken by Dr. Hawkins, who enjoys traveling and hiking and, through his photography, capturing images of the world.
