Joseph C. Hsieh, M.D., MS, MBA, MPH, is a fellowship-trained, board-certified neurosurgeon with more than a decade of experience in neurosurgical trauma and complex spine care. His clinical expertise includes neuronavigation, minimally invasive spine surgery, and motion-preservation techniques. With more than a decade of clinical, academic, and leadership experience, Dr. Hsieh is recognized for combining advanced surgical expertise with a thoughtful, individualized approach to patient care.
Dr. Hsieh earned his medical degree from Harvard Medical School and completed neurosurgical residency at the University of Chicago, followed by a complex spine fellowship at Cedars-Sinai Medical Center in Los Angeles. His multidisciplinary background also includes an MS in Biology from Stanford University, an MBA from the UCLA Anderson School of Management, and an MPH from the UCLA School of Public Health. He previously served as the Plante Policy Fellow for the Congress of Neurological Surgeons in Washington, D.C., focusing on neurosurgical health policy.
Before joining Community Health Partners, Dr. Hsieh served as an assistant professor of neurosurgery at McGovern Medical School and the University of Texas Health Science Center at Houston, where he taught medical students, residents, and fellows and cared for complex trauma and spine patients at Memorial Hermann Texas Medical Center, a leading Level I trauma center.
His leadership experience includes serving as Clinical Director of Neurosurgery at Memorial Hermann Southeast and chairing system-wide committees focused on biologics and spinal instrumentation. He has published and presented nationally and internationally on spine surgery, trauma, and health policy. He also serves as an unaffiliated neurotrauma consultant to the National Football League (NFL), evaluating concussions and other neurologic injuries.
Dr. Hsieh believes exceptional neurosurgical care begins with listening. He takes the time to explain complex conditions in clear, understandable terms and develops treatment strategies tailored to each patient’s needs, values, and goals. His commitment is not simply to relieve pain or restore function, but to partner with each patient in achieving the best possible quality of life.
