Keith Boone, M.D., FACS, FASMBS, is a Valley native, born and raised in Visalia, CA. He graduated from University of California, Santa Barbara, with a bachelor’s degree in biological sciences and received his medical degree from the University of Southern California in Los Angeles. He went on to complete his surgery internship and residency here in Fresno at the UCSF-Fresno Surgery Residency Program.

Dr. Boone served as a surgeon with the U.S. Navy from 1985-1996, which included Operation Desert Storm and Somalia, and taught surgery for the Navy at Oakland Naval Hospital. For the past 25 years, he’s specialized in bariatric/metabolic and minimally invasive surgery, and previously served as director of fellowship at Advanced Laparoscopic Surgical Associates (ALSA).

He is a member of the Community Health System Board of Trustees and serves on multiple hospital committees. Dr. Boone is currently a professor of surgery at UCSF-Fresno, and the medical director of surgical services for Fresno Heart & Surgical Hospital.

When he is not practicing medicine, Dr. Boone is a member and active in multiple national and international bariatric and surgery societies. He is also widely recognized for teaching his specialized surgical skills to surgery fellows and residents, as well as medical students. In his free time Dr. Boone enjoys hiking, skiing, and classic cars.
