Michael Fish, D.O., grew up in Kalamazoo, Michigan. He attended the University of Michigan where he was a member of the Wolverine football and boxing teams and graduated with a BS in Kinesiology.

After college Dr. Fish taught English in Spain for a year and traveled widely. Upon returning home he enrolled in the Western Michigan University Chemistry Master’s program after winning a research grant in Chemistry. He left that program to pursue a career in medicine.

He graduated from the Alabama College of Osteopathic Medicine and completed his residency at the Michigan State University McLaren Macomb General Surgery program in Detroit. It was at this time that he fell in love with hand surgery.

Dr. Fish completed his hand and microsurgery fellowship at the University of Louisville’s Christine M. Kleinert Institute. He went on to receive additional training in reconstructive trauma surgery with the world-renowned Dr. Raja Sabapathy at Ganga Hospital in India.

Dr. Fish is fluent in Spanish and working towards proficiency in Portuguese. Outside of work he enjoys the outdoors with family and friends, particularly hiking and fishing.

Dr. Fish’s goal with the end of every patient visit is to be certain he has not only addressed the patient’s medical issue, but also that the patient truly feels their concerns were heard and understood.
