Dr. Rahman has always achieved the highest level of academics. While at his high school in North Carolina, he received an award from the Mayor for having the highest GPA ever at his high school. He was a Phi Beta Kappa graduate of Duke University with a BA in Chemistry. He was awarded a Junior Marshall Award given to students ranked in the top 1% of his class and was recognized by the Chairman of Chemistry with a Deans award-given to him for receiving an “A+” grade in Organic Chemistry, Biochemistry and Physical Chemistry. He then graduated at the top of his class from Duke University School of Medicine.

While at Duke, he received the Eugene Stead Scholarship for academic excellence, a merit-based scholarship to pay for tuition. It also allowed him to do basic science research, where he worked with world-renowned investigator and future Noble Laureate Robert J Lefkowitz, where he coauthored several papers. He then completed his urology residency at the University of California, San Francisco (UCSF). He has coauthored numerous nationally recognized articles and has spoken extensively at national and international meetings. He was awarded the Robert Krane Prize in urology for the top research paper in the British Journal of Urology.

Dr. Rahman’s professional interests include male infertility, erectile dysfunction, male and female reconstructive surgery, and minimally invasive prostate and kidney cancer surgery. He is regarded as a national expert in the field of robotic surgery. As such, he is actively sought to teach other urologists robotic and minimally invasive surgery.

While not attending to patients, Dr. Rahman enjoys spending time with his wife and three children.
