Dr. Nazeem Sultan is a Neurologist specialized in Stroke and Women’s Neurology. After completing her internship and Neurology residency at the University of New Mexico Hospital in the United States, she joined the University of Alberta and completed her Vascular Neurology training. She received a Stroke Board Certification from the Canadian Stroke Consortium.
Due to her interest in women’s health, she did a fellowship training in Women’s Neurology from the University of Toronto. She is the second Neurologist trained in Women’s Neurology in all of Canada. She has been a part of designing a web tool based on the shared decision model for pregnant women with neurological diseases and for their primary physicians.
Dr Sultan has great interest in women’s health, especially young women with strokes. She is interested in creating awareness and secondary stroke prevention in women during all stages of their lives. She is also enthusiastic in managing other neurological illnesses during pregnancy, including epilepsy and headaches. She is passionate to implement her knowledge into practice as this will translate into better care for those who are pregnant with neurological illnesses.
She is a member of Women Issue in Neurology (WIN), Canadian stroke Consortium (CSC), American Academy of Neurology (AAN) and the American Heart and Stroke Association.
When she is not at work, she enjoys spending her time with her two lovely daughters, enjoys gardening, and exploring new places.
