Originally from the Fresno area, Nicholas Nelson, D.O., is glad to be back home after years of training. He earned his B.S. in Physiology and Developmental Biology from Brigham Young University before heading to Kansas City University, where he received his medical degree. From there, he completed his pediatric internship and residency at the University of Kansas School of Medicine–Wichita, where he served as chief resident and was recognized with awards for both Excellence in Inpatient Pediatric Care and Clinical Excellence in Ambulatory Pediatrics. He is also a member of the American Academy of Pediatrics.
Dr. Nelson believes that the most important years of a person's life occur during childhood. His goal is simple: help kids be kids, while providing parents with a true partner in their child's health. His approach centers on building meaningful relationships with patients and their families, with a strong emphasis on preventative medicine.
Dr. Nelson spent two years living in Taiwan, an experience that shaped his appreciation for different cultures and gave him some conversational Mandarin Chinese along the way. When he's not at work, you'll usually find him spending time with his family, playing music, or outside enjoying nature as much as he can.
