Dr. Viktoriya Samarina is a clinical neuropsychologist with over ten years of experience in neuropsychological assessment for adults and older adults. She is an attending neuropsychologist for the VA Central California Healthcare System and the Community Neurosciences Institute, as well as a consultant neuropsychologist for the Stanford/VA Alzheimer’s Center. Dr. Samarina holds a clinical assistant psychiatry (affiliated) and behavioral sciences professorship at Stanford University School of Medicine. She provides didactic sessions to geriatric psychiatry fellows, residents, clinical research coordinators and psychometricians.
Dr. Samarina has vast experience in neuropsychological assessment evaluating patients with neurodegenerative disorders, multiple sclerosis, cerebrovascular disease and stroke, traumatic brain injury, concussion, brain tumor and other CNS disorders. She also provides pre- and post-surgical DBS evaluations. With warmth and empathy, she takes a whole-person approach while working with her patients and their families as she guides them through the evaluation. Her research and teaching interests include examining the neuropsychology of aging, dementia and other neurodegenerative diseases.
Dr. Samarina earned her bachelor’s degree in psychology and a minor in neuroscience from the University of San Francisco. She earned her master’s degree and PhD from Palo Alto University. She completed her internship at the Cincinnati VA Medical Center and her postdoctoral fellowship at Barrow Neurological Institute. Dr. Samarina enjoys spending time with her family and dog and is learning to garden.
